psycho etchings

This is an etching based off of a still from the film Psycho, and I'm employing some Goya (Disasters of War series, the Capriccios) etching techniques to it - the way he uses aquatint and line.

I'd like to do many more of these, but this is all I've got so far

PSYCHO studies

Took film stills from Psycho, i.e. scenes surrounding the murder of Marion, compiled them in photoshop and messed with the opacity of the layers. Then I rotated it clockwise... Now it looks like a Rauschenberg.

I've been studying the Psycho film very closely, pulling out film stills from it, relating it to some of Goya's work - his compositions, how does Goya (master printmaker) create anxiety in the picture plane as compared to how Hitchcock (master filmmaker) creates anxiety.

Francisco Goya studies

Not sure what to do with this, but I was playing with compiling Disasters of War prints in photoshop, adjusting layers and whatnot. Maybe I'll make a drawing from it

LaVerne Krause, week one (book show)

Me with the full stack, opening day. At the top is an image of the depleted stack, two days later. People actually took pamphlets! There was only one red pamphlet left, and about 8 white pamphlets left when I deinstalled

pictures from home

I was fascinated by this billboard when I went home. After eyeing the billboard for a few weeks, I finally got a chance to snap a photo of it quickly, on my way to pick up a friend from the airport. Lucky, because the next day I drove by the billboard and it had changed. No more Rolex in the cliffs.

Independent Klaus

I noted this guy on my book shelf right before I left MT for Eugene. With a squirrel under one arm and a staff in the other, he was setting off on a journey of his own.
I found this stranded Santa in Sidney, MT, when I returned there for a day to visit some friends. They'd received 4 inches of snow or so.

Look who I ran into in WalMart the other day.

Edward was looking very pale, with gold glitter sprinkled all over his skin

gabriel orozco article

"Plasticine and Dust"

Nice Gabriel Orozco article on the NYTimes. Note:

“I don’t like a big enterprise of people working for me,” he said. “I don’t want to be a master. I want to be a kid. To keep making art, you have to put yourself in the position of a beginner. You have to be excited by a stone on the sidewalk or, like a child, the flight of a bird.”
